El Salvador Crafts
From vibrant coloured crosses, nativity scenes and copinol seed necklaces these lovely handcrafts are made by group of artesian co-operatives from different regions of El Salvador such as: Guarjila, Teosinte, and La Palma. The wood is chosen, dyed and carefully hand-painted before the item is detailed, varnished and shipped.
Artisans in this cooperatives include women who are now able to economically contribute to their families and help provide study, health and education to their children.

Arbol De Dios
These beautiful El Salvadorian articles come from the village of La Palma, in the mountains near the Honduras border. They were first conceived when an artist, Fernando Llort, settled in area with his family and began painting on the seed of the copinal tree, a local fruit tree. Villagers came to watch Fernando creating his artwork and asked to be taught. A whole industry grew from that organic and humble start.
Creating these colourful crafts is a whole-family affair. The men cut down the pine trees and shape it, the designs are screen printed on and then go to many of the homes in the area to be hand-painted.
Images from the Arbol de Dios community will be uploaded soon.
