Development for Trade Policy
Christian Supplies is committed to empowering Christian artisans and communities from around the world while providing our customers with quality and faith-enriching resources. This tradition has been handed down from our previous owner Janet Reid who responded to the invitation to partner with artisan communities with whom she had developed friendships.
Today we continue to build on Janet’s legacy by partnering with additional communities. This activity is a part of our holistic vision that calls forth the dignity of every human being and honours their livelihood. It also allows us to work with communities who share similar values and convictions.
Our vision is to empower global artisan communities who rely on the sale of handicraft items for their economic wellbeing.
We aim to fulfil this vision by:
Raising awareness of those who are marginalized and struggle economically
Partnering with artisan cooperatives
Promoting the sales of handicraft items with professionalism and integrity
We hope to create a place where people can help support these artisan communities and find out more about what is happening worldwide in the area of Trade for Development and Fair Trade.
As we continue to develop and expand our business, we hope to add new communities to our partnership list.
Our Values
We believe that all people are created in the image of God and have an inherent dignity. From this belief we aim to develop trade with communities and cooperatives that share in the same core values of dignity and respect.
Currently we import from several co-operatives communities from around the world. DevTrade has chosen these co-operatives as the artisan communities that we aim to support. We have built a partnership with these communities because we believe they share our similar core values.
In addition, we invite and encourage our co-operatives, if possible, to join Fair Trade organizations such as the Fair Trade Association (FTA) & Fair Trade Federation (FTF).
Some of the co-operatives we import from are also members of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO). These are co-operatives meet the 10 standards of Fair Trade. They can be identified on our site by the WFTO logo.
Please have a look at the WFTO website for more information on Fair Trade: www.wfto.com
